My day started off pretty normally. First time I got to use our sign in system which requires an employee number and a thumbprint. I thought it was pretty cool XD, considering previously I was paid based on what was written on a roster sheet. Everyone got a tenner (10 minute break) at 10.30am, got back at 10.40 and all settled down back to whatever it was we were doing. Around 11am, one of my managers comes running into the back room where myself and a few others were working shouting "EVERYONE ONTO THE FLOOR. THE ROOF IS CAVING IN AND LEAKING". Now, this is a guy who normally pulls jokes at people just for laughs, so I didn't really take him seriously at first. Then he shouted (rather politely, might I add o.O) "ALEX, GET A ROLL OF PLASTIC OUT". Allow me to attempt ASCII art to better explain what happened.

Ok, Now that that's done.. (M) is my manager.. He ran to get one plastic roll out, then I sorta jogged over to them. When I looked to my right to see what was going on, all I saw was black sludge leaking from the roof onto the DVD section and all over the expensive plasma and flatscreen televisions, dvd players, blu-ray players... It was terrible! So I ran out as fast as I could with the huge roll of plastic, which was roughly 50cm in diameter and about 1.5m tall, and started unpacking it ASAP. Obviously, we had to get all our stock out of the way immediately, and a few of us got absolutely drenched in this black sludge that was now POURING out of the roof. It smelled like absolute shit. The manager that ran in tried climbing up a ladder to move the piece of the sealing that was leaking to try and divert it away from the expensive electronics, but before he could, the entire square just got too soggy and too heavy from all the sludge and fell. Right onto the guy's face. I felt sorry for him, but I really commend the guy on his conduct.
After the crap stopped falling, we started the cleanup. However, that was just as hectic as trying to get everything out of the way. We had to wipe every single DVD that got the sludge on it so that it wouldn't dry on them and stink the place up. I must say, as a team, we handled it really well :D We're still going to open on Thursday so it's gonna be real hardcore tomorrow. We may even be working well into the night! We'll have to see how things unravel :P
